JAKARTA, Feb. 2 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia recorded a surge in Chinese visitors last year, with arrivals climbing to 1.34 million throughout 2025, the highest level in the past six years, Statistics Indonesia (BPS) said on Monday.
Chinese arrivals stood at 1.19 million in 2024 and 0.79 million in 2023, indicating a continued rebound in travel.
In 2025, Chinese tourists were the fourth-largest source of international visitors to Indonesia, accounting for 8.7 percent, after Malaysia, Australia and Singapore, according to the agency.
With 536,813 and 504,146 trips, respectively, Bali and Jakarta were their top destinations, followed by North Sumatra, Batam and Surabaya.
Meanwhile, China ranked fourth among Indonesians' preferred outbound travel destinations, with a 6.76 percent share, after Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and Singapore. ■
