BUENOS AIRES, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- Lautaro Blanco and Leandro Paredes scored either side of halftime as Boca Juniors eased to a 2-0 home win over Newell's Old Boys in Argentina's Primera Division Apertura tournament on Sunday.
Blanco gave his side the lead at La Bombonera with a deft first-time chip over goalkeeper Gabriel Arias, having combined with Exequiel Zeballos after forcing a turnover in his own half.
Argentina international midfielder Paredes doubled the advantage from the penalty spot after Angel Romero was brought down by Saul Salcedo.
"Today we played a very solid match, without any cracks," Boca manager Claudio Ubeda told a post-match news conference. "We took advantage of the chances we had and they only had one header on target in the first half."
Elsewhere in Argentina's top flight on Sunday, Deportivo Riestra drew 1-1 at Barracas Central and Rosario Central was held to a goalless home draw by River Plate. ■
