MADRID, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- Atletico Madrid has agreed a deal to sign Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman from Atalanta.

"The Nigeria international is already in Madrid to have the relevant medical tests and to formalize his new contract," read an Atletico statement on Sunday.

"Atletico Madrid and Atalanta have agreed to transfer the 28-year-old," added the statement.

Lookman will add depth to Atletico's left wing after the departure of Giacomo Raspadori, who moved to Atalanta in January after failing to win a regular starting place for Atletico following his summer arrival from Napoli.

Lookman could make his debut in Atletico's Copa del Rey quarterfinal away to Real Betis on Thursday night. ■
