TOKYO, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened marginally lower Tuesday as investors moved to secure profits after the benchmark Nikkei stock index a day earlier extended its run of closing highs to seven successive trading days.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 38.85 points, or 0.17 percent, from Monday to 22,535.91.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, edged down 6.32 points, or 0.37 percent, to 1,682.73.

Marine transportation, bank and construction-oriented issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
